Comcast Grows Presence, Investing in Early-Stage Ventures

Trailing behind only Google, Intel, and Salesforce, Comcast is placed at the forefront of a shifting economy and digital tech age. Comcast has earned a high margin on return as well as valuable lessons within the startup world through investments like Dollar Shave Club.

“We are in the first or second inning” of an era that is “as fundamental as the Industrial Revolution,” said Comcast executive and Comcast Ventures head Amy Banse.

With cable-TV subscription being drained away by streaming services, older business models like Comcast are looking to startup investments as a rebirth of opportunity similar to what corporations saw in the late 1990’s with the dot com boom.

Comcast, which will be hosting a private tour in October during VRS 2017, has been building a portfolio of early-stage investments through their Comcast Ventures arm. Over the course of six years, Comcast has invested in over 100 companies worth a combined value of several billion of dollars.
